THE BOTTLE VASE - A HOT SPRING DECOR TREND

Lauren Graham

Spring has sprung, and it is the perfect time to start thinking of ways to warm up your home and add a touch of Spring flair. Nothing quite says Spring like fresh flowers,  and the bottle vase trend definitely gives you a whole host of new ways to bring in the blooms without breaking the bank.

We absolutely love the latest decorative trend for Spring 2015 - out go the vases and pots, and in come the wonderfully rustic glass jars and bottles. The slim bottle necks and rustic jars mean a little goes a long way - a single bunch of flowers can make for a very impactful decor display when combined with glass bottle vases. This is a fantastically inexpensive way of welcoming spring into your home and we couldn't wait to try this one out for ourselves!

OUR RESULTS:

1. MIX AND MATCH TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT

Group your vases together using different shapes, sizes, heights and even colours with one or two small bunches of rustic flowers to achieve this look:

2. INVITE  YOUR VASES TO TEA

These versatile vases make for delightful table setting additions. Add them to your tea table, set on top a wooden breadboard underneath for a stunning contrast between glass and wood.

TOP TIP: Glass is wonderfully versatile and could match any table display. Customise your look by using colourful twine to the neck of your bottle vase or jar. We picked out this punch of yellow twine in our display. You don't want this look to be too uniform, only decorate one or 2 of your vases for stylish impact.

3. INDUSTRIAL TEXTURES

This look works just as well against more industrial textures, such as concrete or exposed brick. Group bottle vases on a table against a brick wall, this makes for a stunning texture comparison with the glass.

WANT TO OWN THIS TREND?

Follow these easy steps to create your own version of the perfect bottled vase arrangement.

STEP 1:

Raid your kitchen cupboards or ask your neighbour for old glass bottles and jars. Don’t worry about finding ones that are the same shape, size or colour - the more mismatched the better!

STEP 2:

Make sure you’ve rinsed the jars and bottles before filling them with water for the flowers. If you have ribbon or string lying around you can tie these around the bottles for an extra decorative touch.

STEP 3:

Cut the stems of your favourite flowers to your desired length. Use a combination of small bunches and single stems. Don’t worry about getting your ruler out to make sure all your blooms are the same length - length variation adds volume and height to your arrangement which makes for a more exciting blossom display. Then, cut any excess leaves lower down on the stems just below the water line - these won't be visible and will turn brown quickly if completely immersed in water.

STEP 4:

You now have the hottest Spring trend of 2015, so go wild and put one on every window sill, kitchen counter, on top of your bathroom cupboard and dining room table!

And voilà! Your home should now be beautifully brighter and warmer with the perfect Spring touch!
