MASTERING THE ACCENT CHAIR
Lauren Graham
An accent chair is much more than a seat to plant your derriere on, it has the ability to add texture, colour and balance to a room. Whether you want to add a little drama, an extra seating place or throw in some extra personality, an accent chair can do all that and more. Here are the different types of chairs:
1. THE CLUB CHAIR
The club chair is a roomy armchair with extra deep seats that you often find in pairs, think a cosy reading nook in a sunny spot. The club chair is the perfect companion for any couch.
#FUNFACT: The club chair got its name from its association with gentlemen's clubs. However, this stylish chair originated from the chic studios of France where it was known as a fauteuil confortable - a comfy chair.

4. THE BERGERE
The Bergere is easy to spot because of its exposed wooden frame which is surrounded by an upholstered back and seat. The seat on a bergere is loose, which stops this chair from feeling overly formal. A bergere is a versatile addition to any home and can be used in almost any room.
#FUNFACT: The Bergere gained popularity as part of palace life in the 17th Century among the French nobility.
