1. FROZEN VODKA SHANDY POPS | HERE'S HOW WE DID IT
INGREDIENTS
- Lemonade
- Angosturra Bitters
- Vodka (optional - leave this out if you prefer your pops alchohol-free)
- Fresh Lemon Juice
METHOD
To freeze our pops we bought extra large plastic shot glasses and ice cream sticks, which you can find at most craft stores. To give our presentation the edge, we dipped the tips in a mix of pink and yellow food colouring to create a beautiful ombre effect. Just a small dip on the tip is enough as this spreads upward quite quickly.
Start by mixing the lemonade with Vodka to taste and add a squeeze of fresh lemon in a small jug. Pour the contents into your shot glasses, leaving about a centimetre of space at the top. To get the mixed colour effect in the final frozen pop, gently add a drop or two of the bitters to each shot glass.
Place the pops on a plate in the freezer. If you're using a proper popsicle maker, you'll be able to leave and serve once frozen. If, like us, you will be adding sticks to an alternative mould like the shot glasses, you will need to partially freeze your pops and insert the ice cream sticks about half an hour to an hour into freezing to ensure they stand up straight.
And voila! Refreshing Shandy pops that taste just as good as they look.
STYLING
We styled our refreshing pops against the stand-out backdrop of print "Martinique Tropical" from the Diva Collection, paired with complementary plain cotton "Marine" from the Spectrum Collection and presented the pops on a bright coral platter.
