SPRUCE UP YOUR COUCH WITH SCATTER CUSHIONS - HERE'S HOW
Lauren Graham
As we continue into Spring with fresh decor inspiration we knew it wouldn't be complete without letting you in on some of interior design's best kept secrets - and it's so, so much simpler than you think!
The scatter cushion is something which can transform your couch, giving it a new lease on life in seconds. It also gives you the opportunity to bring seasonal prints and colours into a room regularly without having to replace large, more expensive furniture items. Want to see what we are talking about? Take a look at these two examples below of how the simple scatter can spruce up a space:

HOW TO GET IT RIGHT
Whilst this is easy to recreate in your own home, some rules do apply if you want to get this look spot on:
1. Go custom if you can
It' requires a little more effort , however it is worth it to customise your scatters. This means finding an upholsterer or seamstress to make your scatters from scratch. The upside? You broaden your options, allowing yourself to select the exact size, colours and fabrics you'd like to use and not just what's on the shelf.
TOP TIP: Ensure your supplier uses a concealed zip for both comfort and a polished end product.
2. Use real feather inners
This is key. Feather inners give the plush look that instantly adds luxe appeal to your space and you'll be amazed at how much this can impact the comfort of your couch. The feather inners also puff up beautifully making a masterpiece of even the most average lounge suite.
Feather inners are a great investment - if you ever want to change things up, simply have new covers made and re-use your inners.
TOP TIP: To get maximum fullness, always select a feather inner that is 5 cm larger than your scatter cover. Eg: a 60 x 60 cover should be filled with a 65 x 65 inner.
3. Go big, go bold!
When it comes to scatters, size matters! To get the designer look, think about going a little bigger on your scatters for a touch of extra plush.
Be bold -don't shy away from beautiful bold prints or bright colours - this is the one place in your home where you can afford to mix it up and run wild!
