WE DID A SMALL SPACE MAKEOVER - HERE'S THE RESULT
Lauren Graham
We all have them - small pokey spaces that seem impossibly awkward and prove difficult to decorate. We set ourselves the task of updating the small bathroom entrance at the Cape Town showroom in a one day taste test to see what we could do with this small space.
It's often hard to decorate small spaces, but we think, the bolder the better. We used wall-to-wall vertical stripes to add a lot of character to this little room and some styling tricks to create an Italian Garden theme in the bathroom foyer.
HERE IS THE FINAL RESULT:
HOW TO GET THE LOOK
Do you have a small space that is in need of a revamp? Follow this step by step guide on how to make your very own version of the perfect small space:
1. WALLPAPER WALLPAPER WALLPAPER
To detract attention from your awkward sized or shaped space, choose a wallpaper with a bold pop of colour, texture or print to add a touch of personality to your room. We believe that with the right wallpaper, your room should be transformed into a welcoming space that you and your guests will enjoy, which is why we chose the wallpaper from the Design Edition, Colour - String.
DECORATORS TIP: If wallpaper is really not your thing, opt for a bright bold coat of paint.
2. THE CLUTTER-FREE LOOK
For a small space where storage is limited, the saying 'if it doesn't fit, you don't need it' should apply. Don't add bulky pieces of furniture or broad wooden cabinets to this space. Instead, opt for a one seater upholstered chair, a floating shelf, and a perfectly sized wicker basket. These key pieces will transform any room to a stylish clutter-free zone.
3. IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS
Dress up your tiny room with the perfect accessories. Accessories are an easy way of personalising your space so add some hand towels, flowers, a fragrant candle, and hand cream to make your room more welcoming. Give your key pieces of furniture some TLC by adding a pillow or throw for that extra chic finish.
